Privacy Policy

PlayCompare collects the minimum data needed to show you game prices:

• Store prices and game metadata — when you visit a Steam game page, the extension sends the Steam App ID and your selected region/language to our API to fetch prices from supported stores. This request is not tied to any account or identity.

• Region and language preference — stored locally in your browser's localStorage. Never sent to any third party.

• Price history — we store historical price data per game and store in our own database to power the "historical low" feature. This data contains no personal information.

We do not collect, store, or transmit:

• Your name, email address, or any account information

• Your browsing history beyond the Steam game pages you interact with

• Any payment or financial information

• Device identifiers or IP addresses beyond what is inherent in a standard HTTPS request

PlayCompare fetches price data from the following stores on your behalf:

Steam, GOG, Green Man Gaming, and Fanatical. Subscription availability is checked via the IGDB / Twitch API. These requests originate from our backend server, not your browser, so your IP address is not exposed to those stores through PlayCompare.

We use Railway to host our backend infrastructure. Railway's privacy policy applies to our server infrastructure.

Price history data is retained indefinitely as it forms the core of the historical low feature and contains no personal information. We do not retain any logs that could identify individual users.

You can clear your locally stored region and language preferences at any time by clearing your browser's site data for any Steam page where the extension is active. Uninstalling the extension removes all local data immediately.

PlayCompare is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children.

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
